IBA Annual Conference in Mexico City

Every year, the International Bar Association (IBA) organizes an Annual Conference to bring together thousands of lawyers, academics, and other legal professionals from more than 170 countries. In this edition, the IBA decided to organize its Annual Conference in Mexico City. At Vázquez Tercero & Zepeda (VTZ), we have been pleased to participate actively in this event for years. This time, we would like to share with you more details about our participation in this event and some suggestions on the Mexico City experience.

VTZ Members at the Annual Conference

The IBA Annual Conference is scheduled for September 15-20, 2024. The main venue for this event is the Citibanamex Center, one of the most important venues for trade fairs, exhibitions, events, congresses and national and international celebrations in Latin America. In this edition, the IBA expects the presence of more than 5,000 attendees at the Annual Conference.

As part of our philosophy, VTZ renews its commitment to this event. Our managing partner, Adrian Vazquez, our partners, Emilio Arteaga and Alejandro Martinez, and our associate, Eira Zepeda, will be attending numerous presentations and sessions within the Annual Conference.

Emilio Arteaga as Co-Chair and Moderator in IBA sessions

Moreover, Emilio Arteaga will co-chair the panel session on “Commercial considerations in nearshoring and friendshoring of supply chains”. This session will include the participation of Carolina Monteiro, founding partner of Monteiro & Weiss Trade, Nancy Fisher, partner of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, Kenneth Smith, former Mexican negotiator of the USMCA. In addition, Emilio will be a moderator at the panel discussion on “Hot Topics in International Sales, Trade, Franchising and Product Law.”

Emilio Arteaga Vazquez, VTZ, Abogado, Comercio Internacional,

We are confident that these sessions will provide a lot of insights on the current and future developments of international trade law, particularly concerning the phenomenon of nearshoring and supply chains in North America.

When shall we meet?

In addition, other VTZ members will be at different events and meetings in connection with the IBA Annual Conference. Specifically, our partners, Eduardo Zepeda, Eduardo Gonzalez, Dora Luz Galindo, Ivan Szymanski, Miguel Martinez, Veronica Vazquez, and Rafael Alday will be available and joining us in Mexico City.

If you are interested in contacting us or meeting any of our partners, please just let us know. We will be more than glad to meet you!
