El día de hoy, 11 de junio de 2021, el gobierno de México publicó en el Diario Oficial de la Federación, el Acuerdo de Inversión México-Hong Kong, formalmente llamado Acuerdo de Promoción y Protección de Inversiones (APPRI) entre México y la Región Administrativa Especial de Hong Kong. Este tratado entrará en vigor el 16 de junio de 2021, protegiendo a las inversiones e inversionistas de México y de Hong Kong.

Nuestra socia destaca que la entrada en vigor de este Acuerdo llega en el momento en el que cientos de empresas manufactureras del sur de China de capital hongkonés están buscando acercar sus operaciones a los EE.UU.
Con este nuevo tratado, Hong Kong aumentará a 22 Acuerdos de Inversión (APPRIs), cubriendo 31 economías extranjeras. Por su parte, el Acuerdo se sumaría a los 30 acuerdos similares con los que cuenta ya México.
Actualmente, hay más de 200 empresas registradas en México con capital de Hong Kong, representando una inversión de 1,180 millones de USD.
Este Acuerdo servirá como marco regulador para ofrecer a los inversionistas de ambas regiones trato justo, equitativo y no discriminatorio en sus inversiones; compensación en caso de expropiación de inversiones; y el derecho a transferencias gratuitas al exterior de inversiones y rendimientos.
Además, este Acuerdo también prevé mecanismos para la resolución de disputas de inversión bajo reglas aceptadas internacionalmente, incluido el arbitraje, por lo que esperamos sea un instrumento ideal para atraer inversión hongkonesa a México.
El Acuerdo de Inversión México-Hong Kong aumentará la confianza de los inversionistas, ampliará los flujos de inversión entre estas dos economías, y fortalecerá aún más los lazos económicos y comerciales bilaterales.
