Gilberto Mejía has been part of the VTZ team in Mexico City since May 2022. In addition, he has represented the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in international law competitions.

Professional experience

Antidumping Investigations

Since his incorporation, Gilberto Mejía supports the VTZ team in connection with trade remedy proceedings. Particularly, he drafts briefs, translates, prepares official forms, and coordinates directly with the companies on the information they submit in antidumping investigations.

International Trade

He helps companies in researching tariffs, regulations, and non-tariff restrictions. He also has practice in amparo actions and administrative law. Particularly, he is responsible for the drafting of amparo actions and administrative remedies. In addition, he is in charge of drafting amparo appeals.

International Academic Experience

International Trade (WTO)

Gilberto Mejía represented the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in the 20th Edition of the "John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition". This international competition is entirely in English and consists of a simulation of a dispute resolution proceeding before the WTO.

Human Rights (IACHR Court)

He represented the UNAM in the "Sergio García Ramírez University Competition" in 2020 and 2021. This competition consists of a trail simulation before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR Court). His team was semifinalist in the 2021 edition. He also trained UNAM's team for the 2023 edition of this competition.
