Experience

Gustavo Vázquez has over 12 years of experience in public administration and the legislative branch. In the Mexican Chamber of Deputies, he contributed to the drafting of opinions and bills, participating in the Chamber of Deputies’ presidency and in the Rural Development Commission’s presidency. During his parliamentary experience, he stood out especially for his participation in the drafting of the Law on Biosafety of Genetically Modified Organisms, approved in March 2005, in collaboration with prominent deputies.

International Trade

From 2018 to 2024, he worked in the General Directorate for Central America and the Caribbean in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he addressed key issues related to the development of the region, international trade and treaties, including the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Alongside various specialists from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he followed up on USMCA negotiations in 2019 and 2020, particularly regarding the automotive and steel industries.

Academic Background

Gustavo holds two Bachelor's degrees, in Political Science and Law, as well as a Master's degree in Economic Policies and Development from the Sorbonne University in Paris, France, living there for seven years, where he had the opportunity to help Hewlett-Packard solve disputes with French and Spanish clients. In addition, he has litigated in real estate matters, particularly in trials concerning property ownership, recognition of concubinage and hereditary rights. His passion for legal issues, particularly those regarding international trade, along with his experience in public administration and international affairs, led him to join the VTZ team in October 2024.

Recongnitions

Gustavo received the Ceneval Award for Excellence in Performance (EGEL) upon completing his Bachelor’s degree in Law.
