VTZ listado en la Banda 1 de Chambers and Partners

En la Guía de América Latina 2018 de Chambers and Partners, Vázquez Tercero & Zepeda (VTZ) está listado en la Banda 1 de la práctica de Derecho Comercial International/OMC, una vez más.

La publicación resalta a VTZ como un líder en el área de derecho comercial internacional, asesorando a distinguidas empresas, tanto locales como multinacionales, en materia de remedios comerciales.

Además, tres abogados de VTZ fueron listados como líderes en el campo de Derecho Comercial Internacional. Adrián B. Vázquez fue listado en la Banda 1, mientras que Horacio López-Portillo en la Banda 2 y Eduardo Zepeda en la Banda 4.

VTZ ranked in Band 1 by Chambers and Partners

In the 2018 Latin America Guide of Chambers and PartnersVázquez Tercero & Zepeda (VTZ) was ranked in Band 1 in the International Trade/WTO Law practice, again.

The publication describes VTZ as follows:

“Standout player in the Mexican international trade arena, advising a distinguished clientele on trade remedies issues including high-profile anti-dumping cases. Remains highly active in the steel and chemical industries, representing both local clients and foreign multinationals with a particular focus upon advising prominent Asian companies.”

Furthermore, three VTZ members are ranked as leading individuals in the field of Internationational Trade. Adrian B. Vázquez, our managing partner, is listed in Band 1 and clients described him as “someone who we always go to when we have questions of this nature.”

Mexico lost Tuna Compliance Panel Dispute in the WTO

26 Oct , 2017  

Today, the compliance panel in the US – Tuna II dispute issued its report finding that the amended tuna measure is now in compliance with article 2.1 of the TBT agreement and that it is justified with Article XX(g) of the GATT. Proyecto de NOM sobre Carne de Bovino

El pasado 20 de Octubre, la Secretaría de Agricultura, Ganadería y Desarrollo Rural publicó en el Diario Oficial de la Federación un proyecto de Norma Oficial Mexicana (NOM) sobre carne de Bovino. Este proyecto pretende establecer los requisitos y especificaciones que permita clasificar la carne de bovino para así proporcionar información a los consumidores sobre su calidad ( madurez fisiológica y marmoleo).

De implementarse, la NOM aplicará

“para todas aquellas personas físicas o morales que participen en la cadena producciónconsumo, donde se incluye la producción, elaboración, maquila, proceso, distribución, comercialización, publicidad, exportación, almacenaje, y/o demás actividades industriales, que pretendan ostentar que la carne de bovino cumple con las características que corresponden a las clasificaciones previstas la presente Norma Oficial Mexicana.”

New Draft Technical Regulation on Bovine Meat

On October 20, 2017, the Mexican Ministry of Agriculture published in the Official Gazette the draft technical regulation (NOM) on Bovine meat. This draft aims at establishing requirements and specifications to set forth criteria that will allow to classify bovine meat and provide relevant information to consumers about its quality (maturity and marble).

VTZ presente en la conferencia anual de la IBA

Durante el 8 al 13 de octubre del 2017, la Barra Internacional de Abogados (International Bar Association) celebró su conferencia annual en Sídney, Australia, y dos miembros de VTZ asistieron a dicho evento, el cual reunió más de 4,000 abogados de todo el mundo.

Nuestro socio, Horacio López Portillo, experto en comercio internacional y derecho empresarial  y Consejero del Comité de Ventas Internacionales de la IBA, participó activamente durante toda la conferencia y moderó el panel titulado: “The Future of Trade Agreements: Have they been ‘Trumped’ ?”

Nuestro asociado, Emilio Arteaga Vázquez, ex-ganador de una beca de la IBA y miembro del Comité de Comercio Internacional y Aduanas, también asistió al evento.

 

Nuestros miembros asistieron a diversos paneles concernientes de negocios internacionales, así como de comercio internacional y aduanas.

Two VTZ members attended IBA’s Annual Conference at Sydney, Australia

During October 8 to 13 2017, the Annual Conference of the International Bar Association was held in Sydney, Australia, and two members of Vázquez Tercero & Zepeda attended to this event, which gathered more than 4,000 lawyers from around the globe.

Partner, Horacio López Portillo, an expert in international trade and business law and officer of the IBA’s International Sales Committee, actively participated during the conference, where he also moderated the panel called “The Future of Trade Agreements: Have they been ‘Trumped’ ?”

 

Associate, Emilio Arteaga Vázquez,  a former winner of the IBA scholarship of the Anti-trust and Trade Law Section and member of the International Trade and Customs Committee, also attended the event.

Our members attended business as well as trade and customs related sessions, organized by the Trade and Customs Committee as well as the International Sales Committee, including those titled “Competition issues in trade agreements: how is it working and where can it go?“, “Is Europe ready for increased levels of Chinese Investment?“, “Breaking Down or building up walls: the future of international trade“, “Startups and business lawyers: global perspectives and future challenges“, “Agricultural supply chains in Southeast Asia: legal considerations from ‘farm to the fork’“, “Trade Relationship and Human Rights“, among others.

Further, both VTZ members listened to the valuable ‘call to action’ of Jennifer Hillman, former Appellate Body member, who addressed the new political trends on trade policy.

Horacio López Portillo modera Panel en Sídney, Australia

Nuestro socio Horacio A. López-Portillo fue co-moderador de un panel titulado “El futuro de los tratados de libre comercio” durante la pasada Conferencia Anual de la Barra Internacional de Abogados (IBA) celebrada en Sídney, Australia, del 8 al 13 de octubre de 2017.

Durante el panel, Horacio tuvo el honor de dar la bienvenida a la profesora Jennifer Hillman de Georgetown University, previa miembro del Órgano de Apelación de la Organización Mundial del Comercio, quién habló vastamente del estado del llamado Brexit, del TLCAN, la OMC y otros tratados, y quién después supervisó los trabajos de las varias mesas instaladas para discutir el TLCAN, Brexit/UE, TPP, RCEP/ASEAN, Mercosur y la OMC.

Horacio Lopéz Portillo moderates Panel at IBA Anual Conference

Our partner Horacio A. López-Portillo co-chaired a panel titled “The future of trade agreements: Have they been trumped?” during the recent Annual Conference of the International Bar Association (IBA) held in Sydney, Australia, from 8 to 13 October 2017.

During the panel Horacio was honored to welcome Professor Jennifer Hillman of Georgetown University, a former member of the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization, who spoke extensively on the status of Brexit, NAFTA, the WTO and other trade agreements and later supervised the work of the various tables set up to discuss NAFTA, Brexit/EU, TPP, RCEP/ASEAN, Mercosur and the WTO.

International Trade Law Review: Mexico
